Mandy Hale said, “Great attitudes become great days, which become great months, which become great years, which become great lives.”
The question of the day is How do you develop a great life? It is actually quite simple. You live in the now, not yesterday, not tomorrow, but right now. Now is the only real time that you will ever have. So, start with a great attitude now and just keep on keeping on.
Yesterday is over. Tomorrow has not arrived yet. It is ALWAYS right now. Check this out! Yesterday is a canceled check, tomorrow is a promissory note. The only cash you ever have is right now!
Not long ago, I heard people complaining about the hot weather and how much they disliked it. Yesterday, I heard someone griping about the fact that winter was near and peeking at us from around the clouds.
Did you ever notice that some people seem to be happiest when they have something to complain about? So that is mainly what they do! Everyone else wants to be happy and comfortable and this is another reason why some love to complain.
Many of them are even happier if they can bring others down into the mental sewer with them. So they just keep adding on until they either bring them down or the other person leaves.
Then, when the other person leaves, it just gives the complainer another “justification” to think that no one likes them and makes them a little more miserable.
Right now, my blood pressure is normal and my pulse rate is 55 BPM, the sun is shining, and the trees are almost barren of leaves, with some changing color of their leaves. Rumi, my boss (cat) is sound asleep right by my feet.
And I am writing this so I am having pleasant thoughts about you, my wonderful reader. Now is the only time that I have that is real. Everything else is either past memories, future wishes, or just dreaming.
Today and right now is when we build our tomorrow. If now is pleasant or at least manageable, tomorrow’s memories of today will be good. If today is chaotic, tomorrow’s memories will be the same, at the very least, and traumatic or lethal at the worst.
What kind of memories do you want to have from now on? Only you can choose what kind they will be. That’s right, you can choose what kind of memories you will have.
Thoughts are the most powerful part of our makeup. That is why you might want to think about working on your attitude. How do you do this? Start by saying the shortened version of the AA 3rd Step, “God, help me.” Then just let Him.
If snags jump up in your life, and they will say again “God, help me.” Then, again, don’t try to micromanage God. Let Him work and you will profit greatly in the results.
That does not mean that you may not have problems today but the good memories come, not so much from the trouble itself, but from the way that you dealt with it.
This is how a great attitude today, leads to great memories of yesterday. And great hopes of every tomorrow. The days become weeks, become months, become years, become lifetimes. And you are happy, joyous, and free. All because of your great attitude today!
The choice is yours so please choose wisely. If you do, I promise you that your memories will become so much better and, keeping it up, actually become pleasant. Thank you, God!
